Â
Pacheesi is more than a game—it's a living tradition. Once played in royal courts with life-sized boards and human pawns, it has traveled through time to become a cherished pastime in Indian households. Each region has its own name and unique style of play, but the essence remains the same: a blend of luck, strategy, and camaraderie.
Â
Â
Gather around with family and friends, just as generations before you did, and feel the thrill of moving colorful pawns across a beautifully crafted board. The game is played with four pawns per player, guided by the throw of cowrie shells or dice, as you race to bring all your pieces home while outsmarting your opponents. Whether it’s a festive holiday, a rainy afternoon, or a family reunion, Pacheesi sparks laughter, friendly rivalry, and storytelling—creating memories that last a lifetime.
Â
Â
From the vibrant silk mats of the south to the hand-embroidered cotton boards of the north, every set is a nod to India’s rich artisanal heritage. The game’s many names—Pagade in Karnataka, Chaupar in Uttar Pradesh, Chausar in Rajasthan, Pachisi in central India, and Chowka-baara in the south—reflect its deep roots and regional pride.
Â
Â
Bring home Pacheesi and reconnect with your roots. It’s more than just a game—it’s a celebration of Indian heritage, a bridge between generations, and a joyful way to spend time with loved ones. Let the dice roll, the cowries clatter, and the stories unfold—because some traditions are too precious to be forgotten.
Â
Â
Pacheesi is a traditional Indian board game, involves a race to move pieces around a cross-shaped board. Each player starts with four pieces, starting from the centre, (belly). Players take turns rolling a pair of rectangular dice to determine the number of moves. Pieces move counterclockwise around the board's perimeter, and the objective is to navigate all pieces back to the starting position. If a player's piece lands on an opponent's, the opponent's piece is sent back to the centre.
Â
The first player to move all their pieces around the board and back to the centre wins the game.
